NCO Retreat 2010
Wednesday, December 22 / 2:21 AM ?
Konichiwa people! As you all know, on the 7th, 8th & 9th of December, our company organised a NCO Retreat trip to Langkawi! Yes, this post is about the Langkawi trip (: On the 6th of December which is the day before our departure to Langkawi, we had a meeting where we review the activities we had in year 2010. So yeahh the meeting went well, everyone prepared well for the meeting. In conjunction to that, there's also a retreat for the Children Camp that happened in the late November 2010. Most of our boys helped in the camp so we all was invited for the steamboat dinner as well. Because the next day we're flying to Langkawi, all of the NCOs, Primers & some officers overnight-ed at the church. The very next morning, after getting ready, all of us set off to the Penang International Airport. We joined Captain Jonathan & his family there. Everyone were busy talking while Chaplain David & Lance Corporal Gen Shen went and confirm the flight etc. Captain Jonathan's family having McDonald as breakfast :D Then we walked from the McDonald restaurant to the counter where we check in our flight. Our luggage was 7++kg heavier than the limit kg given. Settled the luggage over weighing problem and we proceed to the waiting hall where we basically just wait for the call. Getting the boarding passes Group photo before leaving to the waiting hall. @ the waiting hall. Then we heard the call, got our luggage and off we went. Passing counters and counters we finally stepped on the aeroplane. The flight was a little scary as it was some of our NCOs first time flying. So they were kinda excited and nervous thinking what will happen if the plane crashed or something. After 45mintues of flying, we finally reached Langkawi! That was a short flight though. Before stepping on the plane, the rest of us discussed about the surprise birthday celebration for Madam Fenny & Jayden(Captain Jon's wife & son). So we waited for the rest of the passengers to get down from the plane then all of us gathered in the middle of the plane and sang the Happy Birthday song to Madam Fenny & Jayden! They had no idea this was planned and was shocked alright. Jayden half way dozing off. Adorable! "They're coming! They are coming!" Cake cutting session! Then we finally got off the plane and of course we took a group photo after that. Right in front of the plane. Happy Mamma & Pappa but why Jayden no happy? He was sleeping through the flight and was grumpy when he had to wake up. HAHAHA why so cute?! The first thing we do when we got off the plane is to find rented vehicles. Had a few problems finding the right one. We ended up renting a van and a Myvi. Our first stop is a local Malay coffee shop where we had our lunch there and discussed about our route. So after paying the bills and discussing about our routes, we decided to visit the Makam Mahsuri which was one of the major attraction not to be missed in Langkawi Island. Know more about Makam Mahsuri here. We were waiting for the peacock to show us his beautiful feathers. We waited for quite some time and gave up waiting Hahahaha
You don't find this kind of rich green grasses here in Penang. In Panglima Hitam's house if I'm not mistaken. Thank you random stranger (: Complete group photo. Thanks to random strangers who are willing to help (: Before we knew it, it was evening already and the sky is starting to get darker and darker. Then we met up with Sergent Isaac our former Chairman who left us and went to chase his pilot dreams in Langkawi remember? So yeahh we met up with Sergent Isaac and Corporal Jason from 8th Penang. Hello! and they brought us to this Malay restaurant for dinner. On your left; Corporal Jason, On your right; Our steam former Chairman/future pilot/Sergeant, Isaac (: Primer Miao Xuan happily enjoying her dinner Family shot. Jayden is only 2yo and he knows how to drink through a straw already. Smart baby. Then Sergeant Isaac and Corporal Jason brought us to various of chocolate shops so we could but some chocolates back for our families and friends. That's what Langkawi is famous for right? Tax free by the way, double catch ;D While waiting for the others to finish shopping for chocolates. After that, we went back to the "apartment" that we're staying in for the rest of the trip. We had a hard time finding the place too. Langkawi is so complicated! With Isaac's help we finally found it and settled down with our luggage and finally after a day of travelling around we get to bath. Living room. Simple blue walls. Girls' room. Guys' room. Yes they ALL had to squeeze in a room. Good luck. They failed though, some of them went and sleep on the couch in the living room. Hahaha Sergeant Wei Huai and current Chairman waiting for his turn to use the bathroom. Everybody wants a snap shot with Jayden. Captain Jonathan and his family got a room all by themselves. Lucky Everybody smile for the camera! When some of us were about to sleep, the rest wanted to go for supper. So some of us went to the 7-eleven for instant noodles which was located right below our place and the rest ordered burgers from a local burger stand. Then we all went to sleep. the first night was a "musical night"! Night night. Day 2 & 3 coming soon. Took me a looooooong time writing and uploading pictures. Sorry for delaying though. Remember to catch us up for more upcoming activities! And to all the NCOs remember to pass up your reviews. Friendly reminder (: Photos from Corporal Derrick & Bernice.
