NCO Retreat Day 3
Saturday, January 1 / 8:13 PM ?
Bonjour all! It means Hello in French in case you do not understand. Haha so as promised, this is the update for our NCO Retreat Day3 which was held in Langkawi in early December '10. For Day 3, there aren't many photos compare to Day1 & 2 so this will be a very short update.
On the last day, we had to wake up super early because the church below us will have a mandarin service at 8.00am in the morning. So all of us got ready and packed our luggage and got into our car/van. We then went to the Duty-free complex again to buy more chocolates as souvenirs for our friends and family.
After that we proceed to another Duty-free complex near the Eagle Square. Some of us bought stuffs that they need, some bought food.
The view from the complex.
Then we went to the famous Pantai Cenang where there are alot of yatch for rent where you get to sail out to the sea for a spectacular view of Langkawi.
Then it was time for us to go to the airport. We reached the airport at about 11something and was told our flight was delayed to 2+pm. So all of us waited and waited. Some went and buy food (Our boys just can't resist foods. HAHA), some played the PSP that they brought for the trip, some slept, some went to Starbucks for free wi-fi service. And that's how we spend our time waiting and waiting for our flight.
Finally it was 2pm then we all walked to the boarding hall to wait for the call. Watched Mr Bean that was on the Television. We then heard our call. The air stewardess checked our boarding passes and we proceed to the plane. We practically had to walk to the plane, like those famous people who own private planes, where they have to walk to their plane. The wind was very strong and we had this I-am-a-famous-person-walking-to-my-own-private-plane moment and said Goodbye to Langkawi Island. Hahaha fun times.
Then we got on the plane, waiting for it to take off. While waiting, as usual the air stewardess would show us the safety precautions and how to use the safety jacket etc.
The plane then took it's own sweet time slowly moving it's way to the taking off lane.
I don't know how many turns this plane made. It kept turning and turning and turning and then it finally speed up and whossh! We're flying in the air now!
So long, Farewell,I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye Goodbye!
Then we reached Penang Island!
Both islands differ in their own unique way :DD
Then we got off the plane and walked to the main gate. Some went home by their own and some by our church vans.
On the way back to church!
It was a fun and enjoyable retreat all of us had. For most of our NCOs, this is probably their first Retreat. This trip sure got all of us closer to each other and get to know each other more. Want to know what our NCOs think about this retreat? Stay tuned for their reviews!

NCO Retreat Day 2
Friday, December 31 / 4:49 PM ?
Ta jia hao! Here's the update for our NCO Retreat Day 2. Once again, sorry for dragging. So our Day 2 is pretty much exciting, wanna know why? Continue reading (: Enjoy!
Day 2 8th December 2010
We are supposed to wake up at 7am for devotion but some of us woke up earlier to bath because in the whole "house" there are only ONE bathroom that has a water heater. There are TWO bathrooms by the way which means some of us had to use the bathroom without the heater. Who want to bath with cold freezing water at 7am in the morning?! So yeahh, some of them woke up early (: Everyone got ready and we took a group photo before heading out!
Our first stop for Day 2 is The Eagle Square. For a certain someone, this stop would change his life. Haha dramatic much? You'll know why later. So we then got off our car/van and walked there.
I am sooooo sorry. This is the wrongest angle ever. OOPS! My fault.
We took lots and lots of pictures and then all of a sudden, we were told to gather under the urmm Eagle statue, so all of us sat down and our Captain Jonathan told us that there's gonna be a promotion (!!!) Everyone was like "Is it me?! Is it me?!" "Who?! WHO?!!" Then he said "This is gonna be a Corporal promotion. We found out that he's prepared and improved in attitude wise, leadership wise etc. This person is none other than our very own Jacky Tan!" *applause*
Our new promoted Corporal Jacky was in major shock. He even cried. He told us this promotion is too sudden. Like it just came out of nowhere and none of us NCOs or Primers knew anything about this so we were shocked there's gonna be a promotion too.
Tears of joy huh Jacky?
CONGRATULATIONS CORPORAL JACKY TAN
It's like a tradition or something. As usual we took a group photo before leaving the Eagle Square. Asked a random stranger for the first time and got rejected. Wahh glared at us some more. Never mind, we forgive and forget. Then we asked another stranger the second time. This time the stranger agreed. How kind. THANKS!
In 17th Penang, We are a FAMILY. I love my BB Family, do you? (:
Then we went to the Galeri Perdana. It's like a Museum where all the gifts and awards Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad himself received is displayed there. Know more about Galeri Perdana here. We weren't allow to bring our cameras inside so we just took a group photo outside to prove that we visited this place before :D
Our Third stop is to the BEACH! Wooh! The main reason why we visit this beach is to snap photos. HAHAHA so here are the photos!
We then wanted to try to snap the High School Musical Jumping shot.
Epic fail!
Okay this is much better :DD
Looks like someone is hungry! Nom nom nomm
Trust me, you don't want to know what happened to this poor little crab. It died. Haha and the story of how it died and the killer remain anonymous. Haha
Next stop, the black sand beach. Which is also the only beach in Langkawi that has sands that are black in colour. Don't believe me? Look for it yourself then.
TADAHH! Proven it's black :D
Then then we went for lunch because everyone was already starving. I guess you can see that in the pictures above. Hahaha
Red and orange, yellow and blue. Look at the camera and say KUNG FU! Okay that doesn't make any sense. Well :D
Then we went to this waterfall place to play of course. Before reaching the waterfall, there's one part where we have to walk up the slanting road. Tired and exhausted. After walking up halfway, we then realised there's a staircase just right beside -.- Oh well it's too late to turn back so we continue walking. Then we finally reached the top! Got changed and walked towards the waterfall area.

| Everyone looking exhausted HA HA |
Free massage system.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Just keep swimming swimming swimming.
Some of us did not get into the water so they took pictures and pictures the whole time hahaha.
Lance corporal Hemi having difficulty climbing up the rock. Hilarious moment. Luckily he did not tremble and fall. HAHA
We didn't stay for a long period. They got up after just 15minutes and they have to change and continue our route to the Cable car
I didn't know the baby rabbit was asleep until Corporal Derrick said it was asleep. We thought it was dead. Hahaha
Sunbathing in public LOL
We then went on ourselves to shop/look at the animals and just look around the place. It's so pretty and there are a lot of tourists there. Some of us bought shades/clothes even slippers. Haha we then went to dinner with our Future pilot/Former chairman/Sergeant Isaac!
Everyone was tired and hungry and exhausted and sweaty and smelly. Yuck but we sure had a great time together despite all those tired-ness etc (: During dinner with Isaac, we bumped into Corporal Jason again. Hello! Ada jodoh :D After dinner we went to a nearby beach to watch the sunset together. Haha
Enjoying the sunset with our family members.
Such a beautiful sunset. Don't you agree?
We can't stop laughing at this photo. We don't know what we are doing at that moment either so don't ask us. Haha
We stand together as ONE company! 17th Penang all the way!
Our classic High School Musical jumping shot again! Better than HSM alright :D
The sand was all muddy looking and the water was about to wash away our "BB 17thPng" away :( But we managed to snap a shot. Please ignore our weird looking feet. Thank you hahaha
Before we knew it, the sky was already dark and we headed to the Night market area near our apartment. It rained after that and all of us need to use the toilet desperately so we quickly went back to our apartment. When we reach, everyone was snatching to use the toilet. Haha guess we ate too much of chocolates ay? For supper, again we went down the the Seven-eleven store for instant noodles. Then we went to dreamland. The second night wasn't that bad.
Day 3 coming up tomorrow! Stay tuned :DD

Boys' Brigade History
The first Boys' Brigade company was set up by Sir William Alexander Smith on 4 October, 1883, at Free Church Mission Hall, North Woodside Road, Glasgow, Scotland, to develop "Christian manliness" by the use of a semi-military discipline and order, gymnastics, summer camps, and religious services and classes.
In the years following the establishment of the 1st Glasgow company, others were rapidly formed throughout Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom leading to a movement comprising thousands of boys.
The Boys Brigade movement in Wales was founded by George Phillip Reynolds in 1887 at Havelock Sreet Presbyterian Church, Newport, Monmouthshire.
By the early 20th century there were about 2,200 companies connected with different churches throughout the United Kingdom, the British Empire, and the United States, with 10,000 officers and 160,000 boys.
Each company is normally affiliated to a battalion encompassing several nearby companies, which in turn are organized at a district and then national level, although in Scotland each company is attached to a local district, which is attached to a battalion.
Companies are named in the form "2nd Springfield", indicating the second company to have been established in or around Springfield; it should be noted that where companies have closed, numbers are not normally reallocated, so it is quite normal to find a "2nd" but no "1st" company.
Initally, a simple rosette was worn as an identifying uniform, shortly being replaced by the simple use of a belt, haversack, and pillbox cap (a popular military cap of the day) worn over the boys' everyday clothing.
The pillbox cap was used into the 1960s, long after it had fallen out of use in the British Army, when it was replaced with a field cap.
The movement also pioneered camping for leisure in Britain, previously rarely used outside the military. Early admirers of the Brigade included Robert Baden-Powell who as Vice President of the Boys' Brigade used it alongside initiatives in schools, particularly Eton, to promote the idea of scouting and outdoor pursuits based on those of the military for boys.
At the time, he did not originally intend that any individual organization would later arise from this aim in the form of the various Boy Scouts movements.
Early examples of Scouting were seen in Boys' Brigade Scouting awards and even specialised Boys' Brigade Scout sections who wore a blue uniform with shorts and the distinctive Smokey Bear hat traditionally identified with Scouts, and still worn today by drill sergeants in the United States Army.
However, nowadays there is a certain friendly rivalry between the two groups.
The Boys' Life Brigade was one of many similar movements formed by the Boys' Brigade's influence, sometimes along denominational or religious lines, including the Church Lads' Brigade, the Jewish Lads' Brigade, or the Catholic Boys' Brigade.
The merger also prompted the abandonment of dummy drill rifles that had been used in The Boys' Brigade, due to the Life Brigade's objection to use of weapons or their representations. For some time afterwards, the section covering members aged 8–12 years was known as Life Boys, before being restyled as the Junior section.
A popular hymn in the BB containing its motto and obvious reference to its emblem is "Will Your Anchor Hold" by Priscilla Owens, usually sung at displays and church services. Note, however, that this is not the official Boys' Brigade song. The official song for the Boy's Brigade is 'Underneath the banner'.
